The viability and sustainability of our organization depends on volunteering. All members, new and seasoned. should take an opportunity to give back on these worth while projects.

2009 New Member Orientation |
2009 Orange County Park Fairs |
| In General - the New Member Orientation sessions are designed to provide details about the Wilderness Trekker Organization to existing, new and potential members. This includes a question and answer session followed by a short hike in the park. It would be ideal to have 3 members participate in these sessions so that different perspectives and a "complete" story can be told about the events, history and expectations; as well as answering member questions. Setup includes signage to ensure people can find the group, hot coffee (we have a new coffee maker with the expectation that there is electric on site else it be brewed prior), coffee cups, juice, juice cups, and danish; all reimbersable by the WT.

In General - this is an Orange County Parks presented outdoor event called "Beyond Your Backyard Fair". The Wilderness Trekkers were invited to participate in these 2 events which are centered around getting people out of doors. We did get to participat in the March fair at Tibet-Butler; but the Kelly Park event was canceled due to budget cuts. Please see our Kudos to those that helped and the pictures that follow. |
March 15, 2009 - Joan Landon, Miriam Mohsenin, Sue Boardman and Marcy Kellerberger for volunteering to represent the Wilderness Trekkers at Lake Tibet-Bulter Preserve's "Beyond your backyard" special event. The below pictures show the booth setup and some people inquiring. Thanks you for contributing your Saturday to travel all the way down to southeast Orange County to be our advertising and promoters of the club.

April 22, 2009 - Don Cihak for volunteering to represent the Wilderness Trekkers at an Earth Day event at a large company in the Central Florida Research Park. Don took a vacation day and setup shop to give advertising exposure to our organization. Don is a great salesman and a very approachable guy and we are lucky to have him aboard the Wilderness Trekker team. Don joined Wilderness Trekkers in 2007. Thank you Don for giving of your time.

May 16, 2009 - Joan Landon, Sue Boardman, Valerie Mundo, Mary Bruce, Shelly Claudin, Bob Lyle, Judy Shibbles, Don Cihak, and Marcy Kellerberger for volunteering at the Spring Gathering. And for our trip leaders Lynn VanHorn, Mariam Mohsenin, and Clark Getz. For an informal gathering, it went quite well. The free breakfast was great! There were about 36 in attendance. We had Ed from David's Cycle World give a presentation. There was a bunch of talking and people getting caught up on each others goings on. Erica made an announcement to the group about the sad loss of Chuck Russakov. There was a New Member Orientation held which drew a crowd of about 20. We had our 2009-2010 board election and the broke up into events from there. The park and pavillion were ideally suited.
