Rock Springs Run – This is a leisure fun-filled kid-friendly paddle from the Wekiwa Marina up part way towards Rock Springs – stopping at a sand bar for a snack and splashing.  The river is a spring fed and offers 72 degree temperatures year round.  We will see lots of turtles, birds, possibly reptiles while paddling.  Paddle will be not more than 2 hours (including break).  Bring a child-like spirit and/or a child, snack, drinks, sun screen, and squirt guns.  Boat rental and snacks available at marina.  Limited to 15 people.  $3.00 launch fee/boat.  Host: Bill Maish  billsplash@bellsouth.net or cell 407 375 4406.

Blackwater Creek/Lake Norris – Come join us for a paddle starting on a short dark creek paddling into a beautiful dwarf cypress-lined lake.  The intensity of the trip varies with the wind/wind direction – we will return to the put-in in approximately 4-6 hours.  We will see turtles, birds, reptiles and it is said that the fishing during the break is good.  We will meet at Denny’s at 4650 W SR 46, Sanford FL at 7 for breakfast and leaving for the put-in at 7:45.  Bring a lunch, sun screen, and drinks.  Limited to 15 people.  Host: Bill Maish  billsplash@bellsouth.net or cell 407 375 4406.

Econ River Paddle – We’ll paddle a 10 mile segment from SR 419 to Snow Hill Road and try to beat the afternoon rains by meeting at the put-in at 8 am.  The tannin colored river passes by hardwood hammocks and old ranch lands with sandy banks; its sandy bottom is visible when water is low.  There are no houses on the river but hiking and biking trails bring visitors.  If the water is too high, or if storms are forecast all day, the paddle is off.  Please contact Erica at paddlepuff@earthlink.net or 407/327-4044.

Weeki Wachee River Paddle – Along Central Florida’s West Coast is one of the 27 First Magnitude Springs in the state.  The glass-clear waters that flow about 10 miles to the Gulf; the river has abundant wildlife and plenty of swimming spots.  The current is strong making for an easy downstream paddle from Weeki Wachee Springs to Rogers Park approx. 3+ hours.  Meet at Weeki Wachee Springs in the canoe rental area at 9:00 am sharp (US 19 & SR 50, Spring Hill, FL).  Rentals available at Weeki Wachee 352-597-0360 (RESERVE EARLY).  We will run our own shuttle.  There is a $5.00 fee at put-in and $2.00 for takeout.  Reservations required, limit 15 boats.  Event Hosts:  Kim and Dennis Gonzalez  dennisg@cfl.rr.com

Rainbow River Paddle – Come join us for a paddle down the Rainbow River.  The Rainbow River is a spring fed river with crystal clear water and offers 72 degree temperatures year round.  This river offers beautifully clear water for viewing the life below.  You will see lots of fish, scuba divers, rocks and some springs while paddling.  Paddle will be approximately 4 hours total; this includes time to swim.  We will do a shuttle at the end of the trip.  Bring a lunch, sun screen and drinks.  Rules are extremely strict on this river regarding no throw away containers of any kind for your food or drink.  There is a heavy fine if throw away containers are found.  Bring your lunch items in things like Tupperware.  Drinks must be in a sort of take home bottle not a store bought water bottle.  No plastic bags, cookie wrappers, etc.  We will meet at 9:30 am sharp at KP Hole in Dunnellon on August 20th.  Limited to 12 adults.  $3.00 launch fee and if you want to swim on the river a dive flag needs to be rented for $6.00 or bring your own flag.  Host:  Jamie Aiello, Co host:  Scott McCann  notboredyet@yahoo.com

Silver Springs River Paddle – Please join me for a paddle on the Silver Springs River.  The day will be about a 4 hour paddle depending on the current.  Please bring a snack, plenty of fluids and a lunch as we will eat along the banks.  We will leave the shore at 9:30am, so be unloaded and ready to paddle at that time.  If we are lucky we will see a lot of wildlife and maybe even some monkeys.  12 boat limit.  Members and invited guest only.  Please call me at 863-370-1945 for reservations.  Host – Kim Joiner.

West Orange Trail Bike Ride – We will begin at the Winter Garden Station at 9:00 am and head east to Apopka Vineland Outpost approximately 9 miles, then turn around and come back.  We could go further, only with approval from all riders.  To get to Winter Garden Station, From Orlando, take SR 50 west to 9th Street in Winter Garden.  Take a right (heading north) until you reach CR 438 (Plant Street).  Take a left, and head west until you reach Winter Garden Station. Silver River Moonlight Paddle – Paddle with us up the Silver River on a full moon.  We will meet at Ray’s Wayside Park off of Rte. 40 (just west of the Oklawaha River Bridge if you are coming from the east; just before the bridge if you are coming from the west) in time for us to start paddling 1 hour before sunset.  Expect to leave shore by 6:00pm.  We will stop for a snack at Silver River Campground ramp.  Then we’ll continue to paddle toward the Spring as the sun sets before us.  We can play around the Spring when we arrive, then float/easy paddle back as the moon clears the trees and casts beautiful shadows on the crystal clear water.  Moon Rise will be at 7:00pm.  Different folks may establish different “floating” speeds.  The light sticks on front and back of boats are designed to allow people to enjoy their “space” but not lose the group.  (Use of headlamps and flashlights are discouraged).  Please do NOT head off on your own or lag so far behind that your are left alone.  A take out between 10 and 11 is reasonable.  Trip host Jamie Aiello, Co-host Scott McCann – Please don’t be late for put-in, would make the take out pretty late.  Adults only.  Don’t forget those glow sticks available at Walmart, Target, etc. camping sections.  Hosts:  notboredyet@yahoo.com

Winter Park Chain of Lakes – We will explore Lake Virginia, Lake Osceola and Lake Maitland during this “Urban” Wilderness Trek.  These beautiful lakes are connected by narrow canals built during the early part of the century to serve the logging industry and provide abundant opportunities to observe Osprey, Heron and Egret, and even an occasional gator.  We will also be observing numerous homes and parks and possibly even have an encounter with the Winter Park Boat Tour.  Further details and directions will be provided to registered participants.  Open to members and the public.  Limit 15 boats.  Event Host:  Shelley Claudin.  Contact  shelley.claudin@cubic.com or 407-758-2633.

Hike Zion Nat’l Park, Utah – Day hiking (easy to moderate)  and car camping at Zion National Park in So Utah, known for it’s massive stone formations and gorges.  Arrival in Las Vegas on Sat 10/1, depart Las Vegas Sat 10/8.  From Sunday to Friday our base will be at a campground in the park near the Virgin river, with electric sites and flush toilets.  Besides exploring the park, we will do some sightseeing nearby, possibly visit another national park and spend a little time in Las Vegas.  We can share vehicle rentals.  October weather should be nice, with cool nights and around high 70’s to 80’s during the day.  Limited trip, members and invited guests only, will need to make their own airline arrangements.  For details (serious inquiries only), contact Erica Johnson at paddlepuff@earthlink.net or 407-327-4044.

Hawthorne Trail Bike Ride – Take a beautiful bike ride with us down the Hawthorne Trail in Gainesville.  This is a paved bike trail that meanders through beautiful country side.  We’ll ride along Gainesville pasture land, forests, and state park land.  Plan to ride at least 15 miles, bring a lunch, sunscreen, ect.  Also bring a bike lock in case we want to go for a walk.  Trip Host: Jamie Aiello, Co-Host: Scott McCann  notboredyet@yahoo.com
