A hiking group walked the trails of the park. Another group schlepped their kayaks down the trail to the put-in and went up to the Silver Springs and back. The Firday night Potluck dinner is a great mixer. No planning necessary, it just comes together perfectly. It's a great way to get the weekend rollin'. Members check out the weekend trips and signup for their adventure of choice.

Ken Knapton and Mariam Mohsenin led a group on the lower Ocklawaha from Gores Landing to Eureka. The weather was ideal, the company fantastic. Just another great Trekker Adventure!

Read their trip report on the Ocklawaha River Kayak trip page.

In the 1960's, state highways had this massively high and long causeways contructed over the Ocklawaha River in preparation for the Cross Florida Bardge Canal construction. Fortunately, the digging stopped just north of this bridge at Eureka where a dam creats themassive Rodman Lake. Saturday night's guest speaker was from the Marjorie Carr Cross Florida Greenway, as he spoke of the history, state acquisition and today's uses of the 90,000 acres of land where the canal was to be built.

On Saturday, we had a group of Trekkers go ride the well known Santos bike trails. Carol Noll led a group through the hills and slopes of the sandy tracks.
