Welcome to the Wilderness Trekkers Message Center. Our hope is that this bulletin board will become the main forum for information exchange for our members. It will be the primary means by which the WT Administration will post important and informational messages to the members. In turn, it can become a great means for members to exchange ideas and acquire information. Our plan is to use the Message Center as a replacement for the APB email messages that you have received in the past. The Message Center is divided into the following categories:

Trekker Messages
This is where you can receive club related information and messages.

Impromptu Events
Activity Leaders can post any events that are not currently on the WT Event Calendar.

Trip Reports
Activity Leaders will post their trip reports.

Items For Sale/Wanted
If you have some gear, canoe, etc. that you would like to sell, here is a place that you can post it for all the members to see. You may also post a message if you are looking to purchase a particular type of gear. This is to be used for "outdoor related" gear only!!!

Paddling Partners
Don’t have a boat, but you would like to go on a paddling trip? Here is a place to post a message and hopefully you can find a buddy to join you. Maybe you have the day off tomorrow and would like to go paddling. If you post a message here you may find a buddy to join you.

Hiking/Backpacking Partners
Same format as Paddling Partners

Biking Partners
Same format as Paddling Partners

Information Exchange
Here is a good place to share and request information with other members. For Example: You are looking to buy a backpack and would like to know which brand and model may be a good one for you to choose. Example: You are looking for a good place to go hiking and paddling in the Florida Panhandle area. Post a message and learn from other member’s experiences.

Messages posted will remain for at least 30 days. After 30 days all messages may be moved to a message archive (depending on space limitations) and can still be viewed. Any messages that are posted by you can be deleted or modified by you at any time.

IMPORTANT: When you open the WT Message Center for the first time you will see that the screen is divided into two windows (upper and lower) The first time only you will see a message in the lower window informing you that an applet add-on is being downloaded and it will take about one minute. If it ask you to acknowledge the addition of the add-on please do so. This will enable you to read the messages and view the categories. The upper window has a menu and if you scroll down you will see the categories. Double click on any category to view the messages. Just click on any message and it will appear in the bottom window. To reply to a message click on reply in the lower window. Another window will open asking you for a password (you make one up), Name, and email address. There will also be a place to type in your message. If you wish to post a new message (not a reply to a previously posted message), you will do so from the top window. Click on post message and a similar window will open up requesting the same information as the reply message.

We hope that you will find this Message Center a helpful tool in learning more about WT.
