Lake Worth Inlet
Palm Beach FL
Palm Beach Inlet Bike & Snorkel - Come to the best off-the-beach snorkeling in the Palm Beach County, almost as good as you’ll find in the Bahamas or the Keys. We go on the ocean side of the jetty on the Palm Beach side of the inlet. Yes, it’s in the ocean, but it’s quite protected where we go. You don’t have go to very far off the beach to see interesting creatures; you'll find them in 5' or 40' of water. We ride the lovely bicycle path 3.5 miles before our short walk across the beach. After floating around for a couple of hours, we pedal back to the vehicles and then engage in a time-honored P&P tradition – going out to lunch! We go in the morning because the water is calmer, and on the high tide because the water is clearer. Why do we bicycle? Because the Palm Beach folks up in that area of the island don't allow others to park up there. You need your own snorkeling gear. There is a bicycle rental shop nearby. We'll meet in Palm Beach at 9:30 am. These are Palm Beach Pack & Paddle Club trips, and are open to anyone. Easy. No shuttle or fees. Participants need to contact me for the meeting location, which may be changed from the past ... or not. (In my 1997 DeLorme Florida Atlas & Gazetteer: page 109, 3/C, meeting north of the golf course #1770. The Inlet is in 3/B. Call for exact directions. For you GPS folks, this is officially the Lake Worth Inlet.)

Rock Springs Run
Apopka FL
Paddle Rock Springs Run - Rock Springs Run originates from a spring just north of Apopka and winds through Wekiwa Springs State Park before joining with the Wekiva River. This is one of the few remaining places in Florida that has a sense of timelessness. The paddle is about 8 miles long and usually takes 4½ to 5 hours. We will meet at King's Landing and be on the river by 9:00 a.m.

For those participants wanting to shuttle their own boats, please be at King's Landing and have your boat and gear unloaded by 8:15 to start the shuttle to the Wekiva Marina. Boat rentals and shuttle service are available at King's Landing (407-886-0859 or kingslandingfl.com). The last time I checked it was $10 to launch your own boat and $30 for a rental canoe. If you are shuttling your own boat, there is also a $6 fee to park at Wekiva Island (formerly Wekiva Marina). Pack a lunch and we will find a spot along the river to eat and stretch our legs. Reservations not required, but helpful.

Silver River
Silver Springs FL
Silver River from two approaches - If you've ever been to the Silver River, than you'll certainly know that is an experience you don’t want to miss. From its crystal clear waters to its abundant wildlife, the Silver River offers spectacular beauties in such a way only a small percentage of us are fortunate enough to enjoy from the quiet of our watercraft.

This trip will offer two options for paddlers
Option 1: Meet at Ray's Wayside Park at 8:30 A.M. for a 9:00 A.M. launch, we will paddle upstream (approximately 4 miles) to the Silver River State Park ramp.
Option 2: Meet at the Silver River State park at the canoe trail, boats must be transported approximately one mile to the Silver River State Park ramp via trail. Paddlers must be ready to launch at 10:15 A.M. NOTE: the trail is 3/4 to 1 mile long so if you thought of purchasing wheels, now would be a good time; if you have wheels, now is not the time to leave them behind. . From the Silver River State Park ramp, we will paddle upstream 2.5 miles to the springhead against a 3 M.P.H. current. We will stop for a lunch break at the state park ramp on the return trip. All will take out at the Ray's Wayside park ramp.

Drivers parked at the state park will be shuttled back to Silver River State park.

Silver River State Park is located off S.R. 35, Baseline Road just south of Silver Springs. Take S.R. 40 east from Ocala to Silver Springs, make right on S.R. 35 (Baseline Road) to the State Park. Entry fee is $6.00. For Ray's Wayside Park, it is approximately five miles east of Silver Springs on S.R. 40, (if you cross the high bridge, then you went to far). The fee for parking at Ray's was $5.00 last year; have exact change.

This trip is open to all members and their invited guests. As always, a P.F.D. and whistle are required and must be worn at all times while paddling. Plan on bringing plenty of hydration and snacks and a lunch.

Anastasia State Park
St. Augustine FL
Labor Day Weekend: Camping at Anastasia SP - Anastasia SP is just 110 miles from Orlando and it's along the ocean in Saint Augustine. It's one of the most beautiful parks in Florida. Park Reservations are already full, but you can keep trying as cancellations often occur!. Sites are going fast. Sonia will be doing moderate paddles and I will do the strenuous ones. There are miles of pristine beach. So, if you are not too tired after the paddle, we can do a moonlight walk along the beach on Friday night or Saturday night; or, just simply watch the moon come out in the ocean. In the park, there is a short hiking trail, as well. Also, it's a great place for leisure roller-blading or bicycling in the park. If you like history, you can go to Saint Augustine and be a tourist. Sonia can be your tour guide since she knows this place very well and is always eager to go back. If you have a site you want to share, or if you can't get a site, let me know and I'll see if I can help you find someone to share.
