Withlacoochee Forest Weekend -

Thank you Mother Nature for providing a surprisingly cool weekend.  A few trekkers biked 40 miles on the Withlacoochee RailTrail spotting a deer and numerous butterflies lighting on the blooming wildflowers.  We had lunch in tiny Istachatta on the way back and visited historic Fort Cooper where the water levels are so low that watercraft rentals have been suspended.  Other actitivities included a visit to the Withlacoochee Start Forest exhibit at the Courthouse (The exhibit will run until Nov 14 and is free) pot luck dinner, campfire, hikes to the caves, McKethan Lake (mostly dry) and Hog Island where we saw several types of woodpecker and 4-foot cypress knees.  It was a great weekend to be outdoors!

Happy Birthday to Lynn and thanks to Lynn & Kurth for co-hosting
