Beginners Bicycling -

7 of us showed up in Altamonte Springs at the San Sebastian Trailhead to head northbound toward Heathrow/Lake Mary - ending right behind Panera Bread, in Oakmonte Shoppes plaza. It was extraordinarily hot, and I didn't pack enough drinking water - though I thought I had.... Roughly 3 miles into the 7.5 mile (1-way) bicycling trip, I got over-heated, my hands felt numb, I felt queazy (dizzy/nauseous) so had to lay down in the grass alongside Markham Woods Rd.  It wasn't good.  Perfect strangers stopped & offered a ziploc bag of ice.  Everyone on the "team" stood by faithfully like good friends do, and waited....I ultimately called my husband, to pick me and the kids up.  The other 3 adults, Rodney, Laurel, and Don continued on & actually finished the balance of the trip in 25 minutes.  We met up again in front of Panera, and called it a day. What a humiliating but educational experience that day was.  The folks who attended were totally awesome & understanding of my shortfalls.  I've learned to wait for cooler months, and earlier time of day for bicycling trips, and to pack more water, to have a better bicycle, more condusive to comfort on longer trips, and more endurance training...I think I'll stick to kayaking! Special Thanks to Laurel, Don, and Rodney - great biking buddies :)
