DeLeon Springs Family Paddle -

It was a perfect fall day--slight wind, warmed up enough, but not too hot. There were grey herrons and the regular type, ibis, kingfishers, many jumping fish (about 2-3 ft high for most), manatee, turtles were seen by most. We were about a dozen going out in several types of kayaks, and we started at age 9 and went up from there. The falling leaves in the wind was beautiful. After the 1.5-2hr paddle, we helped load boats and then enjoyed a fresh pancake breakfast and good fellowship. Afterwards, the museum, the playground, the swimming, and the minnow catching was enjoyable.

DeLeon Springs Paddle During Annual Gathering -

The water was high, the weather was fantastic, and the fall colors spectacular!  We saw several types of birds including comorants, ibis, etc...even a scrub jay.  There was a 7ft gator basking in the sun.  The we went up towards Lake Woodruff on a leisurly 2hr paddle.  The lunches prepared at the AG campsite were luxurious and all had a great time with new friends.

DeLeon Springs Family Paddle -

After an easy launch preparation, the 6 of us went out shared the morning. There was an otter helping us launch. There were garr, minnows, bass, jumping fish, turtles, hawks, black birds, anahinga, water hyacynths and many more finds to match the beautiful (but warm) summer weather. Most were able to stay and enjoy a pancake breakfast together to continue the fellowship. Join us next time.

April DeLeon Springs Family Paddle -

"Nature finds" were in abundance: great blue herron and little blue herron, fishing osprey and comorants, moore hens and coots, large and small gators. The weather started cloudy but cleared, the water was low giving access to murky bottom. We had fun despite the stop and go with young paddlers.
