St. Lucie Estuary Paddle. We'll meet at the Intracoastal Waterway at Cove Road in Stuart and paddle south across the water and through lots of mangroves for 3-4 miles to get to a secluded landing. A short trek (50ft) through the brush will have us on the beach. This beach can only be reached by boat so it should be very quiet and peaceful. Lots of wildlife to see along the way including dolphin. We'll have a picnic on the beach, rest and enjoy the ocean, then head back to the start. Members and invited guests only. Please contact Cathy Phillips for more info and directions at flakayaker@aol.com (preferred) or 1-561-688-2398.

Spring Hammock Hike and Splash Park. Open to hikers over 5 years of age. Bring your children or grandchildren to experience a completely shaded 2 mile hike along a stream leading to Lake Jesup. This is a great introduction to the wilderness as we hike a narrow trail, go under a viaduct, walk on boardwalks, and then see huge Lake Jesup. We may get muddy feet. Then we will drive 4 miles to the Torcaso Splash Park in Winter Springs. No fee, just lots of spouts to run through. Meet at the east end of Soldiers Field Soccer Park on 419, which intersects, with 434 on one end and 17-92 on the other. Event Host: Lynn Van Horne LynnV@oco.net  407-331-8609

Santa Fe River Paddle. The Santa Fe is a great place to paddle in the warm summer months with crystal clear 72 degree springs all along the way. We plan to paddle a 15-mile section from the Hwy 441 Bridge to the Hwy 47 Bridge. This is a downstream float trip but the 15 miles may make it strenuous for some. This beautiful river boasts banks choked with pines, cypress, oaks, and other hardwoods. An abundance of wildlife can be sighted year round and we might see beaver, otter, deer, and alligators. We’ll use Santa Fe River Canoe Outpost 386-454-2050 to shuttle our boats back to the put-in, fee $15 per boat. Canoe/kayak rentals avail. Reservations required limited to 15 boats. Events Host: Dennis and Kim Gonzalez.

Wekiva River Paddle. Join us for a leisurely paddle on the Wekiva River from the Wekiva Marina to just past S.R. 46 to what was formerly Katie’s Landing. This approximately 8 mile stretch of the river starts as a meandering river with a moderate current and ends with a couple of miles of shallow, wide open river. If the wind is strong and blowing in the wrong direction, the last couple of miles can make the paddling a bit of a challenge. The river supports abundant wildlife, including gators, otters, and uncounted birds. The Wekiva sees a lot of usage upstream from the Marina, but once you get a mile or so downstream, it is not nearly as crowded. Bring a lunch, and we will search for a place to eat along the way. We will start the shuttle at 9:00 sharp. There is a $3.00 launch fee per boat at the marina. Members and invited guests only. Event host Tony Owen towen@finfrock.cc (preferred) or 407-884-0570.

Saint Lucie River Paddle/Hike. We’ll paddle up and back the beautiful south fork of the St. Lucie River in Stuart. This is a very relaxing paddle with some winding turns. We'll leave from Hodsford Park and paddle approx 3.5 miles to a secluded canoe landing only accessed by paddlers. We’ll have a leisurely lunch then hike the 1 mile South Fork Hiking Trail. Then paddle back. So far on this river I've seen alligators, otters, beautiful birds including wood ducks, a very large hog on the shore and just recently a manatee that was actually lifting its upper body out of the water to feed on vegetation. Hopefully we'll see some of these wonderful animals this trip. Open to members and invited guests only. Will e-mail you with more info when reservations are made.
