Santa Fe River Paddle. There’s no
better place to paddle as the warm summer months set in than the Santa Fe
river. Numerous, crystal clear 72-degree springs all along the way keep you
cool while you enjoy beautiful scenery. Located about 20 miles north of
Gainesville in High Springs, FL, we plan to paddle a 15-mile section from
the Hwy 441 bridge to the Hwy 47 bridge. As we float downstream, we will
experience river banks choked with pines, cypress, oaks, and other
hardwoods. An abundance of wildlife can be sighted year round, including
several species of turtles, birds and fish. On occasion, beaver, otter,
deer, wild boar, can be spotted. We will be using an outfitter (Santa Fe
River Canoe Outpost 386-454-2050) to shuttle our boats back to the put-in
and the fee will be $12 per boat. Canoes and kayaks can also be rented from
the outfitter. Reservations required. This is listed as strenuous for the
length of the paddle, however, it is a downstream paddle w/ the current.
